Family’s
Dream
Home
Austin,
Texas – December
12,
2006
Tuesday
is Braveheart
Day for
Jimmy
Jacobs
Custom
Homes
at the Extreme
Makeover:
Home Edition worksite.
The crew
from
Jimmy
Jacobs
Custom
Homes
and their
team
of blue-clad
volunteers
will
begin
complete
demolition
of the
O’Donnell’s
old home
today,
now that
the family’s
furniture
and belongings
are all
moved
out.
Besides
being
too
small
for
the
family
of
eight,
the
home
has
also
suffered
heavily
from
the
wear
and
tear
of six
children—five
of
whom
are
autistic.
A leaky
roof
and
overflowing
water
have
caused
structural
damage
to
the
walls,
floors,
and
foundation,
and
there
is
mold
throughout
the
home.
Once
the
demolition
is
completed,
the
cast
of Extreme
Makeover,
the Jacobs
team
and an
army of
volunteers
will
begin
round-the-clock
construction
on the
new home.
The home’s
new, larger
floor
plan will
include
plenty
of space
for the
whole
family,
as well
as several
special
features
designed
to help
improve
the children’s
therapy
and treatments.
Monday
night,
Jimmy
Jacobs
and the Extreme
Makeover:
Home Edition cast
hosted
a benefit
concert
at La
Zona
Rosa,
kicking
off a
fundraising
drive
that
will last
all week
long until
the family
comes
home
on Sunday.
The goal
is to
pay off
the O’Donnell’s
mortgage.
The crowd
of about
200 people,
including
Austin
mayor
Will Wynn,
enjoyed
a live
performance
by Trace
Adkins
and helped
raise
over $75,000,
half-way
to their
goal of
wiping
out the
$140,000
mortgage. Jimmy
Jacobs
Custom
Homes
has also
organized
a donation
drive
for the
family.
Checks
can be
dropped
off at
the build
site check-in
tent or
sent to
Celebration
Church,
Box 249,
Georgetown,

The check
