Day
#2
of
the
marathon
build.
Austin,
Texas
- December
14,
2006
It's
Day #2
in the
around-the-clock
construction
of the
O'Donnell
family's
North
Austin
home
for the
upcoming
episode
of Extreme
Makeover:
Home Edition.
After
a long
night
of framing,
plumbing
and electrician
work,
the house
is starting
to come
together.
Throughout
the morning,
roofing,
siding
and landscaping
will develop
the character
outside,
while
insulation,
walls,
cabinets
and doors
will begin
make the
inside
feel like
a home.
The
construction
process
began
early
Wednesday
morning
with the
pouring
of the
foundation.
Within
the hour,
crews
began
erecting
the home's
walls.
And by
sunset,
walls
on both
floors
were up,
and the
roof trusses
were slated
for a
late-night
installation.
At the
same time,
plumbers
and electricians
were gearing
for an
all-night
installation
process
of their
own.
As
Wednesday
wore on,
a few
school
groups
paid the
site a
visit,
bringing
cookies
and other
refreshments
to the
busy work
crews
and volunteers.
Many of
the 300
companies
who have
donated
time and
materials
to this
project
are providing
food and
drinks,
helping
the marathon
construction
process
remain
on schedule.
Work will
continue
on the
home day
in, day
out through
Saturday.
And through
it all,
Jimmy
Jacobs
Custom
Homes,
the show's
cast,
and a
team of
generous
volunteers
never
forget
the final
goal:
to give
one special
family
a very
special
new home.
Another
part
of that
final
goal is
to continue
raising
money
to help
pay off
the family's
overdue
mortgage
on the
original
home.
So far,
fundraising
benefits
and generous
donations
have
raised
more
than half
of the
$140,000
the O'Donnell's
need,
but there's
still
plenty
more
to go.
While
they're
hard at
work,
Jimmy
Jacobs
Custom
Homes
is still
helping
to run
a donation
drive
to continue
raising
the money
needed
for this
cause.
