Custom Homes and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition continue
work on Austin Family's Home
Austin,
TX - December 15, 2006
It's Day
#3 in the construction of the O'Donnell family's new
North Austin home, and the round-the-clock work goes
on as scheduled. Today's work will include the completion
of the flooring and tiling, as well as all of the interior
painting. Crews will also be busy installing the cabinets
and all of the interior doors and fixtures later this
afternoon. Work inside is scheduled to finish up tonight,
ensuring the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition design team
has enough time to finish all the furnishings, decoration
and special features before Sunday.
But just
as importantly, the effort continues to raise enough
money to pay off the family's mortgage.
A major
factor in Extreme Makeover: Home Edition's choice
for this special project was the O'Donnell family's
overdue mortgage. In fact, when Jimmy Jacobs and the
show's cast surprised the O'Donnell's
last Sunday morning, the bank was within just 30 days
of foreclosure. So a major part of this Extreme Makeover
project has been to help raise enough money to pay off
the $140,000 that remains on the original home's
mortgage.
So
far, fundraising and benefit efforts have helped raise
more than $90,000 for the O'Donnell family's payment,
but there's still plenty to go. Jimmy Jacobs Custom
Homes has set up a donation drive to continue raising
the money needed for this cause. Checks can be dropped
off at the build site check-in tent or sent to Celebration
Church, Box 249, Georgetown, TX 78626. The check should
include the notation "Jimmy Jacobs Custom Homes
- Project 415."
Yesterday,
the work crews completed the home's exterior, with the
shingles, siding and stucco. With interior walls in
place, the painters began texturing walls and prepping
for colors. With the final touches of painting and flooring
going in today, the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition designers
will have all day and night Saturday to finish the home's
furnishing and decorating, as well as all the special
design features included to assist in the children's
treatments.
The O'Donnell's
will return Sunday from a weeklong trip to a camp for
autistic children in Crested Butte, Montana. The grand
unveiling ceremony is scheduled for Sunday afternoon,
from 1pm to 3pm.
